What We Do

Fundraising Audits
Usually the first piece of work we undertake is an audit of current fundraising or sponsorship activity. The fundraising audit includes a competitor analysis/peer review, thorough analysis of current donors and income needs and identifies fundraising strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

Fundraising Strategy
We are experts in crafting new fundraising strategies for charities and not for profit organisations. Strategies can be designed for one-off fundraising appeals or projects (capital or revenue), campaigns and events, as well as for ongoing revenue needs.

Prospect Research
We offer targeted prospect research services, to help our clients to uncover organisations who have the potential to fund or sponsor them.
Prior to undertaking research, we ensure we have a thorough understanding of your organisation and your funding needs.

Hands-on Professional Fundraising
As experienced professional fundraisers, we work with charities and not for profits to help implement fundraising strategies with our hands-on fundraising services.
We are able to work with organisations to kick start, test or implement a new type of fundraising, or help to grow and develop an existing income stream.

Corporate Fundraising
With 20+ years of sector, consultancy & professional fundraising experience in corporate fundraising, we are experts in the field.
Our work involves daily interaction with companies & charities, winning & project directing unique corporate partnerships.

Trust Fundraising
We have experts skilled in trust, foundation, lottery and grant making fundraising strategy and hands on bid writing, with successes in raising millions of pounds.

Corporate Community Investment
As well as providing services for not for profit clients, we can work with companies to help devise and implement compelling and engaging corporate community investment programmes.

Idea Generation Workshops
We run and facilitate fundraising idea-generation laboratories and workshops to help organisations think through funding or organisational challenges, engaging the team in the challenge and helping them work together to find new ideas and solutions.

Fundraising Training
We deliver bespoke fundraising training and away-days. Sessions can be tailored towards specific fundraising disciplines and/or with specific funding needs, campaigns or conundrums in mind.
All of our training is interactive and designed with the specific not for profit.

Fundraiser Mentoring
We offer mentoring for fundraisers – either those new in post, new to a fundraising discipline, or those who would benefit from a fresh perspective or extra support. Such support can also include ongoing and adhoc support and sense checking of new proposals and campaigns.

Funding Needs Assessment
We work with organisations who are ready to make a step-change internally to increase their understanding of the needs of their beneficiaries and the communities that they work in, in order to develop as organisations and increase their effectiveness in generating income.

Impact Assessment
We work with organisations who are keen to increase their understanding of the impact their work has on their beneficiaries and the communities that they work in, in order to develop as organisations and increase their effectiveness in generating and on reporting on income.

What our clients tell us

Bonnie and her colleagues have worked with us for over a year planning and implementing the corporate fundraising activity for our major capital appeal. They have packaged our corporate proposition, identified and opened doors to many new corporate prospects, as well as planned and managed a successful corporate cultivation event. They also work very closely with the rest of the capital appeal and fundraising team at the Hospice and we would recommend Bonnie and her team to others in a similar position.

“Bonnie is a pleasure to work with. She is creative, enthusiastic and constantly comes up with ideas. She has a natural warmth with people and is a highly talented person”

“BackCare, in common with many small charities, finds getting good fundraising advice and support more difficult than anything else we do. Bonnie Clayton’s professional, experienced, confident and straightforward approach has made a big difference already to our ideas for growing the charity’s revenue. She quickly understood what the charity’s mission and ambitions were and has brought new and fresh thinking to our work”

“It has been a great pleasure working with and alongside Bonnie for the past eight months in preparation for the London City Airport Fun Day. Due to her hard work and diligence, she ensured that there was sufficient sponsorship to cover the costs of the event whilst also enabling a fantastic donation to Richard House Children’s Hospice. Funds raised were sufficient to fund two of our Play and Care workers for a further 12 months”

“Nobody can say we don’t get our money’s worth from you. You’re always on the ball! Brilliant!”

“I highly recommend Bonnie Clayton as a fundraiser with total confidence. She is a high calibre, professional operator with excellent time management and people skills who produces sound results”

“Bonnie Clayton Consulting worked with The Learning Trust (the organisation running education services for The London Borough of Hackney) in order to undertake a fundraising project for four adventure playgrounds in the local area. Bonnie and her team worked alongside our play staff to identify strategic funding needs, employee involvement and sponsorship opportunities. She carried out detailed corporate, trust and media partner prospect research, prepared a case for support and fundraising strategy for the playgrounds. In addition, Bonnie worked alongside the organisations to implement their fundraising strategies and make approaches for funding and support. I would highly recommend Bonnie Clayton Consulting as fundraising consultants and found them to be tenacious, hardworking, strategic in their thinking and refreshing in their approach”

“Bonnie Clayton and her team carried out a comprehensive audit of our fundraising/development and alumni relations functions and made recommendations for improvement. As part of their work, the team provided a full written report of findings, together with recommendations for improvement and additional documentation regarding staff competencies, plus coaching for individual members of staff. We had regular contact throughout the project, by email and telephone and through Skype meetings, as well as meetings in person at key stages throughout the project. Bonnie was very good at keeping me informed of progress, but also displayed the initiative and experience to drive the project forward. I was happy with the work undertaken and the final report and would recommend Bonnie for similar projects”

“Bonnie conducted a review into corporate fundraising for Global Charities radio appeals: 95.8 Capital FM’s Help a London Child, Classic FM’s Music Makers and Heart’s Have a Heart. Her recommendations have formed the basis for a new strategy that maximises on our radio and charity brands, our local and national reach and existing corporate relationships. Bonnie was professional, creative and consultative at all times. She worked well with our team, responding sensitively to our needs at a time of change within our organisation”

‘Bonnie has the wisdom and practical know-how to steer your organisation in the right direction regarding corporate fundraising. If we could clone her we would!’

“Bonnie has transformed our efforts at Special Olympics Great Britain in the area of fundraising – her expert advice, project management skills and ability to work with corporate partners at a senior level have been key to our success in acquiring and retaining sponsors”

“Bonnie has really helped us feel more optimistic about our fundraising. She and her team have found openings for possible partnerships that we didn’t think existed. She is extremely hard-working, full of ideas, detail-focused and patient – and also very tolerant about spreading our work over the week rather than insisting on only being available for one particular day”

“Working with Bonnie and her team was a pleasure. She quickly understood what we needed and what our priorities should be. She was able to work within our budget, and produce genuinely useful results. Highly recommended”

“As somebody with limited experience in corporate fundraising, Bonnie has been a brilliant mentor and source of advice and support since I started developing corporate partnerships for The Proud Trust. From helping with an initial strategy to ongoing advice about what is appropriate for our charity and cause, Bonnie’s consultancy support has been spot on”

“Bonnie and her colleagues are a great team and very persistent. They have been highly effective and instrumental in raising £1.2 million for our Special Olympics event. I have worked with other fundraisers before, but Bonnie and her colleagues have been far the best team and most helpful to work with. They are thoughtful, they really understand our charity and get the message right. They have been part of the team and go above and beyond what we expected and paid them for. They also make really useful suggestions to help us develop as an organisation, as well as in terms of our immediate and project funding needs.”
