PAN Parks Foundation

“PAN (Protected Area Network) Parks Foundation is the only organisation that exists to focus on wilderness conservation in Europe. There are currently 11 certified PAN Parks throughout Europe in countries including Italy, Poland, Sweden, Bulgaria, Romania and Russia. These vast Parks help ensure the long-term survival and sustainability of wilderness areas in the face of key global challenges such as changes in climate, the fragmentation of ecosystems by roads or other infrastructure, encroaching human settlements, harmful land use practices, misguided economic and social policies or poorly designed and located development projects, among others. The organisation exists to ensure the protection of 1 million hectares of wilderness in Europe and does this by not allowing any activities such as hunting, culling, fishing, mining, logging, grazing, grass cutting, road or building construction within the wilderness area of a certified PAN Park.
Bonnie Clayton worked with PAN Parks Foundation during 2008 and 2009, with the aim of devising a corporate fundraising strategy for the organisation to enable it to be self sustaining following initial start up funding. Her work involved:
- Completing a fundraising audit
- Conducting a competitor analysis into environmental charities in Europe
- Undertaking detailed prospect research into European corporate funders
- Identifying European funding and CSR networking groups for the organisation to align themselves with
- Preparing a needs list for funders
- Identifying benefits for corporate partners
- Writing a case for support and outline partnership proposal
- Advising on rebranding and marketing strategy
- Compiling a report containing detailed tactical and strategic recommendations to empower the organisation to undertake corporate fundraising themselves”
